Racking Lead - Galvanizing

Alvarado, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Runs, maneuvers, navigates or drives heavy equipment or mechanized equipment in receiving area, such as forklifts, cranes/overhead cranes, trucks, etc.
  • Receives material and prepares it to be galvanized by hanging it with proper lifting devices, chains, wires, etc. to make sure it is properly and safely attached to the racks/cranes either manually or by use of equipment.
  • Uses good judgment, follow instructions and have good problem solving abilities.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task.
  • Train and assess employees' competencies in the Skill-Based Pay process.
  • Actively seeks and supports continuous improvement activities in process efficiencies, costs and effectiveness of work.
  • Reads work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Ensures employees understand the weight tolerance for the different sizes of wires and chains.
  • Moves freight, stock or other materials to and from storage or production areas by hand or using trucks, forklifts, or other equipment.
  • Transports heavy equipment and materials.
  • Attaches identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Records number of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Attaches slings, hooks or other devices to materials to prepare for galvanizing process.
  • Inspect all lifting equipment prior to use (forklifts, cranes, monorails, chains, slings, etc).
  • Inspect all material before galvanizing to insure material meets all Sabre Safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Enforce established housekeeping standards.
  • Inform QA/QC of any quality concerns and inform Maintenance Lead on any and all equipment failures and concerns.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
  • Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.
  • Must be able to twist wire used to hang material on racks or hooks or other equipment used to receive and rack equipment for galvanizing purposes.
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures.
Educational Requirements:
  • Prior racking equipment for galvanizing purposes required.
  • Experience using forklifts and cranes required.
  • Ability to read and write in English required.
  • Must be able to obtain SG Crane/Forklift Certification.
  • Prior Lead/Supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility highly preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred

Shift:

  • Must be able to work days on rotating shifts and every other weekend



Weld Trainee Program (Mid-June)

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to stand 100% of scheduled shift. Lifting, pushing, prying and dragging heavy materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Will need to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb and grasp or handle.
  • Ability to understand written and spoken English communications. (ESL classes available.)
Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Shift:

  • Start time will range from Noon – 1:30pm
    • End time will range from 8:30pm – 11:30pm



Machine Operator, Press (Nts)

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Uses common shop mathematics to compute required angles and dimensions.
  • Accurately reads tape measure, angle finder, and other necessary measuring devices.
  • Reads blueprints and flat sheets to lay out work within tolerances to ensure accuracy and to meet required specifications and department quality standards.
  • Uses overhead bridge cranes to load and unload press, requiring acceptable levels of eye, hand and foot coordination.
  • Adjusts depth and tilt settings on the press to ensure proper positions meet tolerances and various specifications.
  • Reads and understands labor reporting system, and uses same to report work accomplished, as well as any needed shop or productivity reports.
  • Uses all necessary safety equipment and procedures, to prevent injury to himself/herself or other personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Understands shop mathematics and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally in English.
  • Stands 100% of the time while operating machine. Will need to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb.

Quality Control -Visual Weld Inspector

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts in process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1
  • Verifies and maintains inspection and test status of product during all stages of manufacturing.
  • Verifies rework and repair of nonconforming products.
  • Initiates requests for corrective action on observed conditions which do not conform to quality system requirements.
  • Prepares, reviews and maintains Quality records appropriate to inspection and test activities to assure legibility, completeness, and correctness of the information.
  • Visually inspects manufactured parts to ensure they are manufactured per the drawings/specifications.
  • Ensures that customer requirements are determined and met or exceeded.
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in area of operation.

Requirements:
  • Recent experience working with Quality Control in a welding/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold.
  • Must possess strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and quality manuals, blueprints, and design drawings.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to efficiently input and retrieve information from PC based information systems.
  • Ability to perform work functions while standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb, reach, grasp and bend over in order to perform inspections.

Design Engineer Associate (EIT)

Sioux City, IA

Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and designs new towers and foundations.
  • Designs foundations based on soil information received and consulting with Professional Engineers to determine appropriate foundation types.
  • Analyzes existing towers for revised loading and determines required modifications if needed.
  • Completes structural modification designs for quoting purposes.
  • Coordinates modification designs with internal employees, consultants and contractors to complete proposals.
  • Applies structural engineering principles (steel, concrete, and soils) to designs.
  • Provides manual calculations to verify computer-generated results, when necessary.
  • Works closely with in-house Professional Engineers to develop the Associate's engineering skills.
  • Performs other duties as need or assigned.

Requirements:
  • Entry level, up to 2 years' experience.
  • Candidate must have the ability and desire to learn all of the technical details of industry standards, and apply them to engineering procedures in order to design safe and efficient structures.
  • Must have professional and effective English communication skills for verbal and written correspondence.
  • Team player, self-starter, results-oriented and organized with a strong attention to detail; able to multi-task and complete tasks within a timely manner.
  • Must have proficient working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel. Experience with RISA-3D or similar structural analysis software preferred.
  • This is an office position requiring the use of office equipment such as a computer, copier, fax, phone, etc. most of the day.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

Finishing Specialist - Galvanizing

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all galvanized products meet Sabre quality requirements, minimize downtime, and promote efficiency and uptime Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.

Part TIme Material Handler -Warehouse

Responsibilities:
  • Moves and stacks materials using a forklift when needed.
  • Performs receiving and pre-ship functions of all types of material. This would include duties such as verifying that part numbers and quantities match the bundling sheets or inbound BOLs.
  • Operates material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensures quality of shipped items by verifying and identifying information and quality/condition of items as well as taking steps necessary to protect items from damage while they are being loaded and transported to vendors and customers.
  • Ensures the material being received and shipped conforms to Sabre's or customer's requirements.
  • Accurately process all required paperwork and documentation for entry in Epicor (ERP system).
  • Maintains a high degree of integrity with regards to professional behavior and safety.
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in your area of operation.
  • Contributes to team effort by communicating and working well with others, as well as accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Requirements:
  • 2-3 years recent experience working in a warehouse environment preferred.
  • Prior experience using an ERP system is preferred.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English), along with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and contribute to the success of the team.
  • Must have the ability to learn to enter and process data in the ERP system.
  • Ability to use a computer; prefer working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Have the ability to enter data into various Sabre systems.

  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply , divide)
  • Ability to climb and descend ladders, platforms and scaffolding in a safe manner.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment to include but not limited to pneumatic staple/nail gun, banding equipment, radial arm saw, chop saw, and chain saws.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull material up to 50 pounds and routinely exert up to 30 pounds of physical force; bend, stoop, kneel, grasp and reach.
  • Must be able to drive and operate a forklift and pass the Sabre forklift certification. Including vision requirements: Distant Vision: must be 20/40 or greater corrected or uncorrected in each eye. Near Vision: must be J2 or better corrected or uncorrected, 12 inches from face in each eye. Depth Perception: must be at less than 50 seconds of arc or greater than 60% Shepard Fry in each eye.
  • Must be able and willing to perform majority of work in an outdoor environment and various weather conditions such as rain, sleet, snow, extreme cold and heat.

                • Uses the Metal Core Welding process to tack weld various small components to round or formed shafts to make a pole assembly for the welder to weld
                • The pole assembly generally consists of a round tube or formed shaft, baseplate, hand hole, arm mounting simplex, tenon top, vangs, step lugs, ladder clips, and/or other small parts
                • Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly
                • Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 lbs
                • Read and interpret drawings to assure proper location of various small part attachments
                • Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications
                • Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions
                • Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel
                • Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts
                • Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts
                • Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing
                • Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face
                • Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures by changing tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve
                • Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinder, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded area
                • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing
                • Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, welding cap, leather sleeves, and/or cape, and welding hood for protection against hot metal, arc rays, and grinding debris
                • Performs visual inspecting and identifies material discrepancies to assure welds have been completed satisfactorily in compliance with applicable drawings and specifications
